Target (pronounced tarz-shay): Who's Next Up to Bat from the High-End Designers?

What's better than getting designer duds on the cheap? Not much unless you paid full retail for the designers clothes and weeks later you see similar looking styles they're designing for places like Target on the cheap. Of course, the quality and fabric can't be matched to the designers high-end line, but it looks pretty darn close to the naked eye. This happened to me this week when I was wearing a new Rag & Bone shirt the same day I found out they were doing a line for Target, which I was super excited about, but then did a little research and saw a photo of some styles, one of which looked identical to my top only it was a fraction of the price. I'm not saying I don't love our fav designers creating affordable looks for mega-retailers such as Target, I'm just saying I wish it didn't make you feel so ripped off in the process. There needs to be some sort of noticeable difference between the high and low end merchandise, right? Because otherwise what's the point in ever paying full retail?

Enough ranting, and back to the good news, for those of you who were able to grab some Rodarte congrats because there were definitely some super cute styles....my roomie bought an adorable lacey print dress ($34.99) and I got an awesome new swimsuit ($16.99 top/bottom), which I'm in the process of getting the bod back in shape for! Next up to bat will be Rag & Bone, which should be out sometime next month and following will be Zac Posen in April. Kind of excited to see what the Posen line will come up with! Imagining some florals and adventurous looks for spring!

Happy shopping...on the cheap.

Sarcasm in Text

(!) We all know how difficult it can be to detect written sarcasm in emails, text message, IMs, etc. so the next time you're in a sarcastic mood and don't want your hilariousness to be misconstrued, try punctuating it correctly with an exclamation point inside parentheses.

Canvas Your Photos

I saw this on Urban Daddy today and how cool is this....you upload your photos and they'll print them on a canvas for you! I know we all have some artsy pics that we're proud of and what a cool way to display them?! So much better than just looking at them via your camera, computer or facebook because let's face it not many of us print pictures anymore unless we do one of those canvas bound photo books through places like apple. With the Canvas Pop website I'm especially loving the option to wrap the image around the sides of the canvas and the filters to make your photo look even cooler.

Pricing pretty much starts at $49 for an 8x10 at .75 deep, for 1.5 deep it's $155. So in summation, if you're in the market for some wall art, display your own!

Tights Can Make an Outfit

Spanx Swiss Dot Tights - shopbop.com $28
Picture these swiss dot tights with a leather mini, booties, black crew and leopard scarf. Kind of amazing, right? These tights are a must in your wardrobe this winter! And with these ones from Spanx you can hide that extra winter weight as well! :)

Decor Tights - Anthropologie $18
Adore these more traditional/classic style tights paired with a short skirt and stacks of rockerish bangles to mix it up!

Speckled Tights - Anthropologie $18
I'm loving white tights especially with boots. It's hard to see but these speckled tights are like that dot frosting...there's tons of tiny specs of color on these tights. Great with distressed brown tall boots because let's face it who wants their entire leg to be white since it's not always the most flattering color. Pair with a jumper or shift-style dress.

Wolford - (velvet de luxe tights) Neiman Marcus, Wolford Stores $42
Last but not least, Wolfords are hands down the best pair of tights you can buy. I highly recommend everyone buying a pair and they will change your life. No more drawer full of cheap tights, all you need is one pair of solid opaque Wolfords (velvet or satin) tights. I swear! They are at least a year investment and that's with some solid use. Completely durable as long as your wash in the lingerie bag or in the sink.

Silk & Lingerie Wash - thelittleflirt.com $12
Mesh Wash Bag - Container Store $3.99

Will The Bolo Tie Ever Return?

In some respects I hope not, but then there's that other side of me that says it could be amazing...I kind of secretly think they're hilarious and fun! Plus as we all know fashion is cyclical so it's almost inevitable.

What sparked this bolo tie comeback idea you might ask? Well my boyfriend told me the other day, in one of our "who was cooler in middle school/high school" debates, that he was cooler in his silk shirt and bolo tie in middle school. I naturally disagreed since the only bolo tie I've ever worn was in 3rd grade and by middle school the bolo tie was clearly out of fashion. (BTW not even going to address the silk shirt in this post, but again it's only a matter of time before the ol' silk button down returns!) Still laughing!

I can honestly see the hipsters of New York/Brooklyn bringing them back first with their unique vintage store finds. So if you feel brave....give it a whirl!

GET THE LOOK: Shades of Denim

Still loving those chic chambray button downs, but there's more in the world of denim and denim hues in the future (i.e. spring). Denim is no longer limited to our skinny jeans. You can take this look more downtown chic with biker boots and fun jewelry (like the one below) or more feminine with ruffles, ballet flats, etc. Make it your own this season and definitely experiment because that's where you'll win with this look. Another plus, this trend does not have to break the bank. See some ideas below.

Topshop - denim bleach demin western shirt topshop $55 topshop.com
Rag & Bone - M-15 field jacket $595 Saks Fifth Avenue

Current Elliott - the artist smock dress $238 shopbop.com
Sass & Bide - towards the light demin vest $190 net-a-porter.com

Urban Outfitters - overdyed canvas skips $18 UrbanOutfitters.com

Yves Saint Laurent - denim skimmer $450 Barneys

Chanel - denim sunglasses (price tbd)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And to throw a little spice into the mix, depending on your style, either of these looks would go perfectly with some denim.

Lee Angel - etienne chain bracelet $95 net-a-porter.com
Frye - engineer boot $198 shopbop.com

Gorjana - feather lariat necklace $98 shopbop.com
Twelfth St by Cynthia Vincent - tia buckle flat sandal $250 shopbop.com
